CHAMBER PHILHARMONIC RIJEKA
Chamber Philharmonic Rijeka, founded in March 2024, is a music association based in Rijeka (Croatia) with the aim of performing a diverse range of musical works, from classical to contemporary. We actively collaborate with composers and artists across various disciplines, including dance, theatre, film, and visual arts.
Our focus is on blending traditional music with modern elements, such as electronic music, artificial intelligence, and live improvisation, creating innovative performances that connect different art forms and resonate with audiences.
By bridging tradition and innovation, Chamber Philharmonic Rijeka aims to be a dynamic force in the cultural scene, creating and presenting engaging music that resonates with diverse audiences and art forms.
RESIDENT ENSEMBLES
REVIBRANT TRIO
The ensemble was formed in Rijeka when we met as members of the orchestra at the Croatian National Theatre of Rijeka. We recorded a musical commentary for an exhibition by David Maljković at the Contemporary Art Museum and performed chamber music pieces in the theatre during the pandemic. We were later invited to compose music for the documentary Around About by Swedish-Iranian director Behzad Khosravi Nouri and for the theatre play Fahrenheit 451, directed by Ivan Penović, both of which were highly successful.
After participating in several chamber music cycles at the HNK Rijeka, we were invited to perform at the international Chamber Music Festival Art Novi in Novi Vinodolski. In 2024, we recorded the violin-cello duo Revelation by Kaveh Mishosseini, a student at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. That same year, we composed and performed music for two contemporary ballets: “Artissue: Lineage” and “What do you see, or not” in collaboration with two different dance collectives. Our most significant achievement to date was performing on the inaugural day of the Biennale di Venezia for the Pavilion of Azerbaijan.
Our vision for the ensemble is to develop an independent artistic voice by collaborating with composers from around the globe, creating new music, and arranging pieces originally written for other instruments. We actively collaborate with other art forms, such as dance, drama, and literature. By integrating live electronics, electroacoustic instruments, video, and lighting into our performances, we aim to offer a "total contemporary show" that we believe appeals to a broad and diverse audience.
KAMOV TRIO
Trio Kamov was founded in Rijeka and began its professional activity in 2021. The trio is named after the writer Janko Polić Kamov, a Croatian avant-garde author and a fellow citizen of Rijeka. Since its formation, the trio has been active on concert stages, performing both in Croatia and abroad. The trio has held a significant number of concerts in smaller Croatian towns, such as Lastovo, Senj, and Lovran, with the aim of presenting musical art beyond the major cultural centers.
RIJEKA WIND QUINTET
The Rijeka Wind Quintet is composed of principal players from the HNK Zajc Orchestra of Rijeka, brought together by mutual respect, deep friendship, and a shared passion for exploring an extensive and fascinating chamber repertoire. All members of the ensemble are winners of prestigious international competitions, with many years of concert experience and collaborations alongside some of the greatest musicians and orchestras on the international stage.
The Quintet’s mission is to recreate, through this small yet versatile ensemble, the rich palette of orchestral timbres, elevating to the highest level the collective expertise and artistry that each member has cultivated during tours in the world’s most renowned concert halls. At the same time, the group embraces the unique and strong individual personalities of its members, which form the core of its artistic identity.
This exceptional blend of technical mastery, musical understanding, and genuine camaraderie is the result of a daily commitment to study, mutual respect, and authentic friendship among the members of the ensemble.
The Quintet is dedicated to showcasing the technical and expressive potential of its instruments—flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon—highlighting their versatility and unique character. Its repertoire spans from classical to contemporary works and includes rare compositions and transcriptions specially arranged for this ensemble, offering audiences a fresh perspective on wind quintet music.
HISTRIATRIA PROJECT
The Trio Histriatria Project consists of composer and pianist Hrvoje Puškarić, clarinetist Toni Kranjac, and violinist Osman Eyublu, all professional musicians with remarkable careers. The ensemble stands out with its original style, combining original compositions and arrangements where classical music forms merge with the Istrian folkloric heritage and carefully selected elements from modern genres.
The ensemble brings a new dimension and freshness to the Croatian cultural scene, creating a unique neo-classical folk groove and offering the audience an immersive and active listening experience through an innovative approach to artistic creation. In addition to classical instruments – piano, violin, and clarinet – the trio incorporates an electric wind instrument (EWI) and an electric keyboard (Nord Electro series clavinet), enriching neo-classical music with a “rock” expression and bold, energetic harmonies.
The Trio Histriatria Project has performed numerous memorable concerts across the Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Istria counties.Their concerts are much more than conventional musical performances – this distinctive trio places special emphasis on the visual experience of the audience, complementing the stage design with valuable antiques.
